What Was Life Really Like?
Back in 2015, life felt just a little bit simpler, didn't it? It was the year we were all collectively losing our minds over whether a certain lace dress was blue and black or white and gold. If you’d wandered into any pub that summer, you’d have heard Justin Bieber’s ‘What Do You Mean?
’ blaring out of every open window while everyone nursed a glass of strawberry lime Rekorderlig in the sunshine. It was a cracking summer, actually—I remember that July heatwave being so intense we all fled to the seaside just to breathe. On the telly, we were glued to the final BBC series of *The Great British Bake Off* before it moved house, mid-morning debates were dominated by Princess Charlotte’s birth, and we were all mourning the end of *Peep Show*.
Kids were obsessed with those little Shopkins figures, and if you went to the cinema, you were almost certainly queuing for *The Force Awakens* or sobbing through *Inside Out*. We were all suddenly obsessed with clean eating and smashed avocado on sourdough, yet we’d still spend our Friday nights shouting at the news about the General Election or that overhead photo of Pluto. It was a proper, humming sort of year.
